On BBC Breakfast this morning, introducing constitutional expert and notorious courtier Norman St John Stevas, Bill Turnbull inadvertently referred to him as "Lord St John of Fawnsley".
The world has clearly turned upside down when members of the aristocracy seek to assert their right (to a civil, or uncivil more like, wedding) under the European Convention on Human Rights, whilst the state denies its citizens (or in the UK "subjects") rights under the same Convention (indefinite imprisonment without trial etc etc).
